I always have dreams of having fruit trees and a big vegetable patch, but I know I’m just not very good at keeping them weeded and watered and such. So when people offer to give me part of their bounty I will always, always accept! Some friends of our moved into a new house and discovered they had plum trees over laden with fruit ripe for the picking! These are the tiniest plums I have ever seen, but they are also the most juicy, fragrant and flavorful. They almost have a floral quality to them. And we have been eating them, baking with them, and using them like crazy!
This is a fantastic way to enjoy a lovely cup of sweet tea. The plums and mint are a perfect combination and a lovely addition to sweet tea! You don’t need to make the tea as sweet as you normally would because the natural sweetness of the plums will add to the tea. You want to be sure to use plums that are ripe, juicy and flavorful!
Plum and Mint Infused Sweet Tea
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes

- 2 quarts water
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 large bags of Lipton Tea (or 8 small bags)
- 3 big sprigs of fresh mint
- 2 cups sliced ripe plums
In a large pan heat the water until boiling.
Add in the sugar and tea bags and allow to steep and cool to just warm.
Remove the tea bags and discard.
Add the plum slices and mint and place the pitcher (covered) in the fridge for at least one hour before serving.
After a few hours strain out the plum slices and mint and store in the fridge for a few days, or until you drink it all, whichever comes first.
