Homemade creamed corn is a simple but cozy side dish recipe that is perfect for any special occasion, or any night of the week, too! With just a few ingredients and a little bit of time, you can make this amazing simple recipe from scratch.

How to make this creamed corn

  1. Cook your bacon! I like to bake mine in an oven at 350 for about 15 minutes – You want it in between limp and crispy here.
  2. In a large saucepan combine the corn, cream, butter, and salt and pepper.
  3. Bring to medium heat and bring to a simmer.
  4. Simmer for 20 minutes, stirring frequently.
  5. Remove from the heat and stir in the parmesan cheese.
  6. Place in a serving dish and sprinkle the cooked bacon on top.
  7. Enjoy!

Can I use canned corn in this recipe?

Yes! This recipe works well with fresh corn, canned corn, or frozen corn! To use canned corn, rinse and drain the corn. To use frozen corn, make sure the corn is partially thawed before cooking. To use fresh corn, cut the kernels off the cob.

Can I substitute the heavy cream?

You can use half and half instead.

  • Try adding a teaspoon of ground dried cayenne or a sliced jalapeno.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups sweet corn cut off the cob (or frozen)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3 TBSP butter
  • ½ cup parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp ground pepper
  • ¼ cup crumbled cooked bacon

Instructions

  • Combine the corn, heavy cream, butter, Parmesan cheese, salt and pepper in a saucepan over medium heat.
  • Cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • When the butter is melted and the liquid has reduce by 1/3, its done!
  • Turn off the heat and pour into serving dish.
  • Add the bacon on top and serve!
  • Enjoy!
