Sourdough is great at breakfast time! I just love how the slight sourdough tang compliments a sweet breakfast dish and a cup of coffee so well!
Some of my favorite ways to enjoy sourdough at breakfast are my overnight sourdough pancakes, sourdough cinnamon rolls, sourdough coffee cake, and sourdough blueberry muffins. But I love a good french toast, too!
When it comes to French toast, I think it needs to be just this side of extra. Here the standard eggs and milk are combined with a little extra cream, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg to make these literally the most decadent and lovely french toast pieces you have ever tasted.

French Toast Tips and Tricks
Making french toast is simple, but there are a few tips to help yours be extra awesome!
How do you make french toast not soggy?
The secret to not soggy french toast is all in how you cook it! You want to get the temperature just right so that you get a good sear but you also give it plenty of time to cook all the way through before the sugars caramelize too much. Medium-low heat is best. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side. Also make sure you have preheated your pan thoroughly before you start cooking.
Slice the bread the right thickness
Getting the right thickness to the bread is key for great French toast. If your bread is too thin, it won’t support the custard well enough and can fall apart and be soggy. Bread that is too thick, though, either doesn’t soak up the custard well enough or is too thick to cook evenly. Bread that is sliced ¾” thickness is best!
