Indian cuisine is kind of like a giant umbrella term for so many different foods – and way more than just curries! It is often perceived as being too complex or too spicy, both of which are untrue! But this cuisine has a rich history of spices, herbs, and seasoning blends because it was heavily involved in the spice trade.

Spices and herbs that are typical in Indian cuisine include cardamom, cloves, coriander, cumin, fennel, fenugreek, garlic, ginger, saffron and turmeric.

Spice Blends typical of this region include Garam Masala, which is used in a lot of Indian inspired dishes like chicken tikka masala, braised vegetables and dahls. It is also great when rubbed onto roasted veggies like sweet potato!
