George Washington Carrot Tea Cake

This Carrot Tea Cake is a historical recipe enjoyed by George Washington at the end of the Revolutionary War. This old cake recipe is simple and rustic and surprisingly delicious!

Key Ingredient

1. Chop the carrots into 2" pieces and place in a small saucepan with 1 cup of water.

PREP THE CARROTS

2. Simmer until the carrots are soft, about 20-25 minutes.

SIMMER

3. When the carrots are soft, remove from pan and allow to cool. When cool, mash the carrots.
