These homemade sourdough hot dog buns have a dense and chewy texture with sourdough tang, and are perfect for your next barbecue!

Key Ingredient

1. In the bowl of a stand mixer with a dough hook, combine the whole wheat flour, all purpose flour, about 3/4 of water, active sourdough starter, honey, and salt.

COMBINE

2. Mix the dough on low speed until incorporated, about 2-minutes.

MIX

3. Switch to the dough hook and mix on medium speed for 4-5 minutes until the dough strengthens and clumps around the hook, though it will remain slightly shaggy at the bottom. If not medium soft, gradually add extra water and mix until desired consistency is achieved.
