This easy recipe for an Italian seasoning blend is a great way to add quick flavor to your food. Better than a store bought blend and kid friendly, this quick spice mix only needs a few pantry staples and a few minutes to make.
1teaspoondried rosemary leavescrushed into little pieces
1teaspoonmarjoram leaves
1teaspoondried thyme leaves
1teaspoondried oregano leaves
½teaspoononion powder
½teaspoonsalt
¼teaspoonground black pepper
Instructions
Measure all the ingredients into a small mixing bowl.
Stir together.
Pour into a glass spice storage jar with an air-tight lid.
Notes
This spice blend will keep at room temperature in an airtight container for about 12 months. Seasoning mixes like this don’t really spoil (unless you have had some bad cross contamination), but they will loose flavor over time, which results in your food tasting bland. Ground spices and dried herbs both last about 12 months before they should be replaced, but this blend will taste best within the first 6 months.
