Ingredients
2
cups
strawberries
divided
½
cup
granulated sugar
¼
cup
water
1
Tablespoon
lemon juice
1
Tablespoon
cornstarch
¼
teaspoon
salt
Instructions
Wash and hull the strawberries.
2 cups strawberries
Cut the strawberries into quarters and divide in half.
Take one half of the berries and dice them into smaller pieces. Reserve these for adding back to the sauce after cooking.
Place half of the strawberries into a medium sized saucepan.
Add the sugar and use a potato masher to smash the berries a bit to help break them down.
1/2 cup granulated sugar
Add the water, lemon juice, and cornstarch and stir.
1/4 cup water
1 Tablespoon lemon juice
1 Tablespoon cornstarch
Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook, stirring constantly, for 5-8 minutes. The sauce will thicken.
Remove from heat, stir in the remaining strawberries and the salt, and allow to cool (this takes about 15 minutes or so).
1/4 teaspoon salt
When cool, place in a glass jar with an airtight lid.
Notes
Store in an air tight container in the fridge for about a week.
