Homemade hummus is so good and so easy, you will soon forget you can even buy it at the store! This classic Mediterranean hummus is creamy, flavorful, and the perfect snack for your family.
Place the chickpeas in a medium sized saucepan and cover with fresh water.
Place on the stovetop, bring to a simmer for 20 minutes.
Add in the baking soda and allow it to sit for 10 minutes.
Place the chickpeas in a strainer and rinse under cold water. No need to peel the chickpeas!
Make the hummus.
Place the lemon juice, garlic, and salt in the food processor and blend until it is almost.
Allow the mixture to sit for about 5 minutes to let the garlic mellow in the lemon juice.
Add the tahini sauce to the food processor and blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy, about 5 minutes. Scrape down the sides if needed and continue blending to make it all the same texture.
Add in the cooked chickpeas and 2 ice cubes, and blend until the mixture is super smooth.
Transfer to a storage container and place in the fridge for 1 hour to allow the flavors to blend together well.
Notes
