Peach caprese is a fresh summer side dish made with juicy peaches, ripe tomatoes, fresh mozzarella cheese, basil, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze. It’s sweet, savory, creamy, and so fresh! It’s a great easy way to play with seasonal flavors. This also makes a fantastic snack or appetizer!

This is also a fantastic recipe to make with kids! There isn’t really any cooking involved, which means you can slow down and work on knife skills, practice arranging food, and taste how different ingredients can work together. Peaches and tomatoes might sound like an unusual combination, but thats half the fun!

Why you’ll love this recipe

  • Quick and easy – there’s no cooking required and the whole thing can be assembled in about 10 minutes.
  • Great knife skills practice – Soft peaches, tomatoes, and mozzarella are excellent ingredients for kids who are building confidence with a knife.
  • Fun flavor experiment – Sweet peaches mixed with savory tomatoes, creamy mozzarella, fresh basil and tangy balsamic gives kids lots f flavors and textures to explore.

Traditional Italian caprese (insulate caprese) is a simple combination of tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, olive oil, and salt. Adding ripe peaches isn’t traditional, but it is a delicious way to play with the basic idea.

And thats something I really want my kids to learn in the kitchen: Once you understand how ingredients work together, you can start experimenting. Try a bite of the ingredients by itself, then add them together. Which ingredients taste sweetest? What does the basil change? Does the peach taste different when you eat it with hte mozzarella?

There aren’t any right answers, just paying attention to what you taste.

Step Three: Finish and serve

Drizzle everything with olive oil and balsamic glaze, and season with a little salt and pepper before serving.

How kids can help:

This is an excellent recipe for kids who are learning how to use a knife because most of the ingredients are soft and easy to cut. Younger cooks can tear basil leaves and arrange the ingredients while more experienced kids can practice slicing.
