This mango salsa is inspired by the vibrant, tropical flavors often found in Caribbean cuisine—where fresh fruit, herbs, and a touch of citrus are staples in everyday cooking.

This salsa is sunshine in a bowl—bright, juicy, colorful, and bursting with sweet and zesty flavor. It’s made with just a handful of fresh ingredients (or frozen mango, if that’s what you have on hand!) and comes together in minutes. It’s the kind of recipe that looks impressive but is deceptively simple—perfect for families who want a fun, flavorful win on a weeknight.

Whether you’re spooning it over steak tacos, serving it alongside grilled chicken or fish, or just scooping it up with tortilla chips, this salsa is the kind of recipe that gets gobbled up fast—and gets kids involved from the start.

How kids can help in the kitchen

This recipe is made for curious little hands. Depending on your kids’ ages, here are a few ways they can help:

  • Ages 2–4: Pick herbs, stir the ingredients, and scoop the salsa into a serving bowl.
  • Ages 5–7: Use kid-safe knives to dice the mango and peppers, juice the limes, and taste-test for seasoning.
  • Ages 8–10+: Chop ingredients more independently, adjust seasoning to taste, and serve it up with style.

Pro tip: Turn this into a little sensory exploration. Ask questions like:

  • “What does the mango smell like?”
  • “Can you find something sweet, something crunchy, and something juicy in your bowl?”
  • “How does the lime juice change the flavor?”
