No churn ice cream recipes are my favorite because they take almost no time. This recipe uses a combination of sweetened condensed milk and heavy whipping cream to create a creamy and rich ice cream without needing a machine. Then add in mascarpone cheese for even more creamy rich flavor, plenty of espresso and lots of chocolate and you have one amazingly flavorful ice cream!

Traditionally, tiramisu takes quite a few hours to make, but this no churn ice cream version is ready in almost no time! It only takes a few minutes to stir together, and then you need to give it a few hours to solidify before you can dig in.

Recipe Ingredients

You only need a few ingredients to make this simple no churn ice cream:

  • Heavy Whipping Cream – Creates a rich and flavorful ice cream! Use a fresh, good quality heavy cream with plenty of milk fat.
  • Sweetened Condensed Milk – This is a key ingredient to help create a creamy and thick ice cream without churning it. Do not substitute.
  • Mascarpone Cheese – Adds even more rich, creamy flavor to the ice cream.
  • Espresso powder – Tiramisu is known for its coffee syrup that soaks the ladyfinger cookies. This is an important  ingredient to help achieve the right flavor of the ice cream. You can use instant coffee powder, too.
  • Semi Sweet Chocolate – You want a bar of high quality chocolate to grate, not chips here.
  • Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips – You can use regular size or mini

Recipe Tips

  • Allow this ice cream to sit on the counter for a few minutes before scooping – it only needs about 10 to 15 minutes. Don’t allow the ice cream to fully thaw and melt, though, because it won’t refreeze well.
  • You can also add in some crushed ladyfinger cookies into your ice cream base when you fold all the ingredients together. I didn’t include them in the recipe because they can be tricky to find. But if you can find them, and you want to, fold in ½ cup of crushed ladyfinger cookies.

Recipe FAQ’s

Can I not use the coffee?

If you aren’t a big coffee drinker don’t worry! There are plenty of coffee substitutes that work great for this recipe. Pero is an instant coffee substitute that has a very similar flavor profile, you won’t even be able to taste the difference!

How long can I store this ice cream for?

It is important to make sure that you store this ice cream in an airtight container in the freezer to prevent it from getting freezer burn. It will keep well for 2 to 3 weeks, depending on how and where you store it in the fridge. Nestling it deep in the freezer will be better for it, don’t store it on the door.
